The 'books to every home' journey

Dong A Books Company is sending a mobile library to provinces and cities for one year, combining it with author and artist exchanges.

On the afternoon of 15/7, the mobile library departed from TP HCM, with its first stop at the Vung Tau Revolutionary Traditional House. The program, running from 16-19/7, showcases nearly 500 book titles with over 24,600 copies, alongside various interactive activities. From 16-17/7, painter Tran Dai Thang will engage with readers, illustrating book covers and introducing his work, "Toi Ke - Tat Ca Deu Tu Sach". This publication, launched in March, recounts his life story and expresses gratitude to his relatives and friends.

On the morning of 18/7, musician Tran Tien will meet readers to discuss his artbook, "Nguoi Hat Tho Minh - Ca Khuc & Nhung Cau Chuyen". This work systematically presents Tran Tien's creative career through music and prose, depicting the spiritual life of a troubadour artist. The book also includes commentary from journalists, professionals, and his companions.

Tran Dai Thang, director of Dong A Books Company, initiated and manages the "Books to Every Home" project. He aims to bring valuable works closer to readers and foster a reading culture. He will accompany the mobile library on its journeys, overseeing activities at each stop, meeting readers, and connecting with local cultural units.

After Vung Tau, the mobile library will continue its journey to provinces and cities nationwide for one year. At each location, Dong A will organize book fairs featuring about 500 titles, along with interactive programs involving authors, painters, artists, and publishing professionals. Each stop is designed as a cultural hub, tailored to the conditions and characteristics of the respective locality.

Tran Dai Thang stated that instead of waiting for readers to visit large book fairs, he wants to proactively bring valuable publications directly to local communities. "I have been making books for nearly 30 years and always believe books need to reach readers more directly," he said.

Previously, from 19-31/3, Dong A conducted a "warehouse clearance" event in Binh Hung, TP HCM, attracting many readers. On the first day, painter Tran Dai Thang interacted with attendees, signing and illustrating their purchased books.
