Top model contestants face dizzying heights in aerial photoshoot

My Ngan and Tra My broke down in tears, while Hang Ngo nearly fainted while posing 5 meters in the air for a photoshoot on Vietnam's Next Top Model 2025.

The judges, including model Thanh Hang, Creative Director Nam Trung, Ha Do, and designer Do Manh Cuong, set challenges for the contestants in the episode airing on 3/8.

The top 15 faced a test of their abilities amidst the windy conditions at a park along the Saigon River. Suspended 5 meters in the air from resistance bands, they wore 10 kg outfits, accessorized with various items.

According to Nam Trung, the contestants needed to be mindful of their body movements. Each flick of the dress had to be carefully calculated to avoid being "swallowed" by the fabric. Diep Luc struggled with the challenge, displeasing the judges. (Multimedia)

Hang Ngo, who has a fear of heights, experienced difficulty breathing while suspended in the air and had to be lowered to the ground to rest. Five contestants who underperformed – Vu My Ngan, Tra My, Giang Phung, Mi Lan, and Diep Luc (from left to right) – were placed in the bottom group. After deliberation, the judges decided to give them another chance, so no one was eliminated after the first episode.

The show returned after an eight-year hiatus. From thousands of applications and after three days of casting, the judges selected the top 15 contestants to enter the shared house. They will participate in various challenges to determine the winner, who will receive a 300 million VND prize. The winner will also have the opportunity to walk at International Fashion Weeks in the UK, France, and Italy, and appear on the cover of a prestigious fashion magazine.

Vietnam's Next Top Model is adapted from the American show Next Top Model, founded by supermodel Tyra Banks. The first season aired in 2010. Over eight seasons, the program has discovered many famous faces in the fashion industry, including Trang Khieu, Tuyet Lan, Hoang Thuy, Ngoc Chau, Mau Thuy, H'Hen Nie, Huong Ly, Nguyen Hop, Nguyen Oanh, and Kim Dung. After the "all-star" season (featuring notable contestants from previous years) in 2017, the show took a break and has recently been revived.
