The woman arrived at Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital two days ago with bleeding and discharge from her left nostril. Doctors performed an endoscopy and discovered a suspected stone-like foreign object and numerous maggots in her nasal cavity.
Through endoscopic surgery, doctors removed 7 maggots and the entire stone-like object.
After the successful removal, the patient is in stable condition and is expected to be discharged in the next few days.

The patient reported experiencing nasal congestion six months prior but did not seek medical attention, instead opting to use saline solution at home. Her condition progressively worsened.
Dr. Le Thi Ha, Head of the Ear, Nose, and Throat Department at Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital, stated that such cases are rare. The cause is often poor hygiene combined with the presence of a tumor or foreign object in the nasal cavity, creating a favorable environment for larvae to develop into maggots. Additionally, the patient's delayed response to initial symptoms allowed the eggs to hatch and develop.
