Australian Vietnamese expatriate smiles again with dental implants at SGC

Mr. Dinh, a 60-year-old Australian Vietnamese expatriate, traveled to Vietnam for dental implant treatment to improve his chewing ability, resolve issues with loose removable dentures, and regain confidence in communication.

Due to age and chronic periodontitis, Mr. Dinh had lost many upper and lower teeth. Previously, he relied on removable dentures for eating, but over time, they became increasingly loose, rubbing against his gums and causing pain and discomfort. This prevented him from enjoying his favorite foods.

This situation prompted him to seek a new dental solution and explore implant placement. However, the treatment cost in Australia was too high for a retiree’s budget.

"I had used removable dentures for six or seven years, and they were very inconvenient. Sometimes, while talking to friends, they would fall out if I laughed loudly," Mr. Dinh shared.

Through a friend in Australia who had previously received dental treatment in Vietnam, he learned about SGC Dental Clinic in Ho Chi Minh City. After researching and consulting with a doctor online about the treatment plan, he decided to book a flight back to Vietnam to begin his journey to restore his smile and chewing function.

Contrary to his initial concerns about a lengthy treatment period, SGC's doctors developed a treatment plan similar to the online consultation, requiring only seven to ten days in Vietnam. The personalized plan accommodated his schedule, allowing him to visit relatives and combine his trip with tourism and relaxation.

To address his tooth loss, the clinic recommended placing four implant posts in his upper jaw and four in his lower jaw (full-arch all-on-4 implants), replacing his removable dentures. Doctors used DSG implant placement technology, a modern positioning system that helps identify optimal implant placement on the jawbone. This technology contributes to shorter procedure times, increased safety, and better bone integration.

Recalling the treatment process, Mr. Dinh stated: "I thought implant placement would be painful, but it was very gentle. The doctor worked quickly, and the assistants were attentive, making me wish I had done it sooner."

Due to long-term tooth loss, a significant portion of Mr. Dinh's upper jawbone had deteriorated. Therefore, the clinic provided complimentary jawbone grafting to ensure better and stronger implant integration. This support program is available to clients using the clinic's all-on implant services, helping to reduce financial burdens and allow patients to undergo treatment with peace of mind.

Beyond professional treatment, SGC also offers airport-clinic-hotel transfer services and accommodation assistance for clients traveling from afar. This is a key concern for many individuals considering dental implant placement in Ho Chi Minh City, particularly for overseas Vietnamese who have not returned to the country in a long time and may be apprehensive about travel. The comprehensive support package also includes a conebeam CT scan and a direct consultation with a specialist doctor when clients book an appointment in advance.

Six months later, Mr. Dinh returned to Vietnam to complete the final stage of his treatment. Once the evaluation confirmed satisfactory bone integration of the implant posts, the doctors proceeded with the dental restoration on the implants. Since then, he has been able to eat normally and confidently meet with friends.

"I am delighted that my teeth are both beautiful and much stronger than before. From now on, I feel completely confident when meeting friends," Mr. Dinh said.
