Response:
Annual flu vaccination does not overload the immune system. You should adhere to your scheduled appointment to build active antibodies, helping to prevent flu infection. The vaccine will protect you as the weather in Vietnam is changing seasons, creating conditions for the flu virus to thrive.
The flu is an acute infectious disease caused by a virus, presenting with symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue, and a persistent cough. It can lead to dangerous complications including pneumonia, respiratory failure, myocarditis, and even death, especially in children, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with chronic illnesses.
The flu virus spreads through respiratory droplets or by touching contaminated surfaces. It is easily transmitted when sharing objects or touching one's eyes, nose, or mouth. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health recommend annual flu vaccination because the virus frequently mutates its antigens, antibodies from the vaccine gradually decrease over time, and vaccines are updated to match circulating strains.

In addition to booster vaccinations, you need to maintain a balanced diet, avoid staying up late, limit alcohol consumption, wear masks when outdoors, and wash hands frequently with soap to prevent illness. If you experience symptoms such as fever, sore throat, or headache, seek medical attention early. Do not self-medicate at home or rely on folk remedies.
Currently, Vietnam uses four types of flu vaccines from France, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Vietnam. These are administered to children from six months old to adults. Children under nine years old who have never been vaccinated require two doses administered one month apart. Children nine years old and adults receive one dose. A booster dose is required annually.
