Dr.Vein applies new technology in varicose vein treatment

Dr.Vein implements minimally invasive varicose vein treatment techniques, such as endovenous laser, aiming to shorten recovery time and enhance effectiveness.

Following the trend of specialized medicine development, many varicose vein treatment facilities in Vietnam are adopting minimally invasive technology to shorten recovery times and improve treatment quality. Among these, Dr.Vein clinic, a surgical and thoracic specialty clinic under Edopi Health Care, focuses on implementing modern interventional methods to replace traditional surgery.

According to a clinic representative, one of the main technologies currently used is endovenous laser ablation (EVLA), a method recommended by many international vein associations. This technique uses thermal energy to sclerose and close incompetent veins from within, through a very small entry point under the guidance of color Doppler ultrasound. This allows doctors to precisely treat the damaged vein segment without affecting surrounding tissue.

Advantages of EVLA include patients being able to walk immediately after the procedure, returning to normal activities quickly, and having less cosmetic scarring compared to open surgery. For cases of spider veins or small veins, the clinic also applies aesthetic sclerotherapy using internationally standardized medication, which helps improve symptoms and the appearance of the legs.

Treatment effectiveness is documented through many real cases. For example, Anne Braund, a 70-year-old from Canada, had suffered from varicose vein insufficiency for a long time. During examinations in Canada, she was told she would have to wait at least 6 years for medical intervention under their healthcare system. She decided to come to Dr.Vein with prominent veins on her right calf. She had a family history of similar conditions and frequently experienced a burning sensation and heavy, tired legs whenever she stood or sat for extended periods.

At Dr.Vein, she was diagnosed with C3 lower limb venous insufficiency, characterized by reflux lasting over 6 seconds and numerous complex varicose vein clusters in her popliteal fossa. Master, Doctor, Second Degree Specialist Le Kim Cao stated that the patient was prescribed a combined treatment protocol including endovenous laser ablation (EVLA), the Muller technique, and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) to comprehensively address the lesions. After a one-month follow-up, her heaviness, fatigue, and bumpy varicose vein clusters significantly decreased, improving her mobility and daily activities.

Beyond technical interventions, the clinic emphasizes post-treatment follow-up. Patients receive guidance on wearing compression stockings, performing rehabilitation exercises, and maintaining appropriate nutrition to strengthen vascular walls. Regular monitoring helps detect abnormalities early and sustain long-term treatment results.

Bella, a patient from the US who also received treatment at the clinic, shared that improving her leg condition helped her maintain an active lifestyle while living in Vietnam, where there is a high demand for mobility and outdoor experiences.

According to Doctor Le Kim Cao, the number of foreign and overseas Vietnamese patients seeking vein examinations at Dr.Vein has recently increased. This is attributed to the foreign community sharing information about quality treatment facilities in Vietnam, including Dr.Vein.

He noted that many people mistakenly believe varicose veins are only a cosmetic issue. In reality, the condition can cause pain, fatigue, edema, night cramps, and significantly impact mobility. For foreigners living in Vietnam, maintaining healthy legs allows them to travel, sightsee, and participate in physical activities more conveniently.

Dr.Vein views the application of new treatment technology as a strategic direction to enhance the effectiveness of varicose vein treatment, while also meeting the growing demand from both domestic and international patients.
