The fraudulent page used Thu Duc General Hospital's address, phone number, and website in its profile. It reposted information and images from the hospital's recent activities, such as a charity market, a coronary intervention for a 90-year-old patient at midnight, and volunteer doctors and nurses assisting in Laos, as well as general medical knowledge.
On 21/8, the page solicited donations for 4-year-old Nguyen Van Tam, who was described as being in a vegetative state after a traffic accident that killed his father. It provided a bank account number purportedly belonging to the child's mother, Ha Quynh Mai.
The post claimed the child needed treatment in Singapore costing approximately 2 billion VND. It stated the family had sold their land for a little over 600 million VND and the hospital had raised nearly 300 million VND from staff, urging "benefactors to join hands to save the child". Numerous comments indicated people had transferred money to the account.

On the afternoon of 21/8, Thu Duc General Hospital released a statement confirming the Facebook page was fake. The hospital clarified it does not conduct any fundraising activities through unofficial Facebook pages and is not treating any such patient.
"The hospital does not authorize any individual or organization to solicit donations without a public announcement on official media channels," the statement said, adding, "This is an act of exploiting the hospital's reputation, causing public confusion, and damaging its image and public trust."
The hospital advised the public to be vigilant, not provide personal information, not share the fraudulent posts, and especially not transfer money to any accounts listed on the fake pages. For verification, they should contact the hospital through official channels: benhvienthuduc.vn, the official verified Facebook page, or the hotline 0966 331 010.
