Ho Chi Minh City merges transport hospital

Ho Chi Minh City transport hospital ceases independent operations from 1/10, merging into the rehabilitation - occupational disease treatment hospital.

Pursuant to a decision by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, all organizational structure, personnel, facilities, equipment, finances, assets, and related rights and obligations of the Transport Hospital are being transferred to the Rehabilitation - Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital. Its functions of medical examination and treatment, occupational disease management and treatment, and specialized transport health checks are also being transferred.

Separately, tasks such as occupational environment monitoring, training, certification for hygiene workers, disease prevention, and occupational hygiene training are being transferred to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control.

The Transport Hospital has facilities at 72/3 Tran Quoc Toan and 72/5 GH Tran Quoc Toan, Xuan Hoa ward, along with a clinic at 136 Cach Mang Thang Tam, Nhieu Loc ward. This institution was formerly Railway Hospital II, established in 1976. It was once named Transport Hospital 8 before being renamed Ho Chi Minh City Transport Hospital in 2008.

In 10/2025, the Transport Medical Department, Ministry of Construction, transferred management of the hospital to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, with the Department of Health acting as the receiving representative. At that time, hospital leadership proposed it be organized as facility 2 of the Rehabilitation - Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital.

The Ho Chi Minh City Rehabilitation - Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital, established in 1977, is a specialized hospital under the Department of Health, providing medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation, and occupational disease treatment. Following the merger, the hospital will have its main office at 313 Au Duong Lan, Chanh Hung ward, and three facilities transferred from the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Hospital.
