On 4/8, Doctor Tran Van Truong from Hong Ngoc - Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital reported that a patient arrived with a metal rod still embedded in his face. In critical condition, he underwent immediate surgery.

The surgical team found the metal rod had penetrated the floor of the right eye socket, extending into the maxillofacial region. It lay precariously close to vital blood vessels and nerves. The doctor remarked, "Fortunately, the foreign object did not touch the eyeball; a slight deviation would have put the patient at risk of death."

Surgeons safely removed the metal rod. They also performed an endoscopic examination of the nasal sinuses to control bleeding and checked the eye for any related injuries.

The patient's right eye is currently normal, with vision preserved, and his health is recovering well.

The doctor cautioned that metal display rods in supermarkets often extend into aisles. He advised shoppers to be vigilant and walk slowly, especially near shelving units, to prevent accidents. In the event of a similar accident, patients require immediate medical attention. Crucially, individuals should never attempt to remove foreign objects themselves, as this could cause further damage to blood vessels, nerves, or other vital organs.
