The incident occurred on the morning of 24/11 at Quang Binh Friendship Hospital. The patient, a resident of Le Ninh commune, was admitted in a conscious state, walking and communicating normally. As the medical team interviewed him and prepared to measure his vital signs, he suddenly turned blue, frothed at the mouth, lost consciousness, and stopped breathing.
Suspecting acute myocardial infarction, the on-duty team immediately activated the emergency protocol right in the examination room. Doctors performed external chest compressions, administered bag-valve-mask ventilation, injected vasopressor drugs, and intubated to secure the airway.
After more than 30 minutes, the patient's heart resumed beating, and his pulse and blood pressure improved. The hospital then transferred the patient to Viet Nam – Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital for further specialized cardiovascular intervention.
Doan Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of Quang Binh Friendship Hospital, stated that the situation was sudden, with the patient "nearly suffering cardiac arrest right before their eyes". He emphasized, "In cardiac arrest emergencies, every second is critical; the rapid response helped the patient overcome the critical danger."
