Phuong Chau hosts scientific conference on JCI standards

Phuong Chau Health Group's annual scientific conference, held on 11/7, attracted over 800 delegates to discuss JCI standards in healthcare operations.

With the theme "JCI & JCI Enterprise - A Symphony in Healthcare Operations," the 9th annual Phuong Chau Health Group Scientific Conference (ACP) brought together speakers from seven of the nine JCI and JCI Enterprise-accredited hospitals and healthcare systems in Vietnam. These included Vinmec Central Park Hospital, FV Hospital, American International Hospital, Cao Thang Eye Hospital, and Phuong Chau Health Group (including Phuong Chau Can Tho, Phuong Chau Soc Trang, and Phuong Nam Hospital).

The conference also featured international experts from The Medical City (Philippines), a leading JCI-accredited hospital in the ASEAN region, along with leading Vietnamese experts in obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics.

According to the organizers, this was the first scientific conference with speakers from JCI and JCI Enterprise-accredited hospitals and healthcare systems in Vietnam and abroad. The presentations distilled practical experiences from JCI implementation, providing attendees with knowledge focused on three core elements: patient safety, quality of treatment, and healthcare worker protection.

The conference was divided into five sessions with the following topics: "Experiences from the Journey of High Quality to Comprehensive Employee Care," "Collaboration between Doctors and Nurses in Comprehensive and Continuous Patient Care," "Safety in Paramedical Services," "Information System and Infrastructure Security Management," and "Updates on Knowledge and Outstanding Clinical Cases in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Neonatology."

In her opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ho, Founder, Chairwoman of the Board, and CEO of Phuong Chau Health Group, explained that the theme "JCI & JCI Enterprise - A Symphony in Healthcare Operations" was not a casual metaphor. It reflected the organizers' vision of a modern healthcare system as a symphony, where each individual, process, technology, and cultural aspect plays a role like musical instruments. "This entire operating system only achieves harmony when guided by international standards like JCI and JCI Enterprise," Dr. Ngoc Ho stated.

Accordingly, the conference emphasized the synchronized coordination between people and culture, processes and technology within the healthcare system. Each element is like an instrument in an orchestra, playing in harmony according to the "score" of JCI and JCI Enterprise standards.

JCI (Joint Commission International) is a global standard for quality management and patient safety, based on over 2,500 stringent standards, including patient safety, infection control, medication management, emergency response, and quality management and safety of healthcare workers.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Viet Nga, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Health, noted that Can Tho has two JCI-accredited hospitals (Phuong Chau Can Tho and Phuong Chau Soc Trang). She thanked the domestic and international experts for sharing their knowledge and experiences, helping doctors in the Mekong Delta region access new knowledge to better serve the community.

With over 15 years of operation, Phuong Chau Health Group has built a multi-specialty ecosystem centered around Obstetrics, with close collaboration between gynecology, infertility, general medicine, andrology, and cosmetology in consultation, diagnosis, and treatment. This closely linked healthcare ecosystem not only ensures the safety of mothers and babies but also comprehensively improves the quality of healthcare.

In 2022, Phuong Chau International Hospital (Can Tho) became the first facility in the Phuong Chau healthcare system to achieve JCI's Gold Seal of Approval. It was also the first hospital in the Mekong Delta and one of the first six hospitals nationwide to receive JCI accreditation. In 2024, both Phuong Chau Soc Trang International Hospital and Phuong Nam Hospital (TP HCM) achieved JCI accreditation, bringing the total number of JCI-accredited hospitals in this healthcare group to three, out of a total of nine JCI-accredited hospitals in Vietnam. At the same time, Phuong Chau became the first healthcare system in Southeast Asia to achieve JCI-Enterprise certification, placing it among the top 10 globally.

Also in 2024, the Phuong Chau Can Tho IVF unit received its second RTAC accreditation, a quality standard for assisted reproductive technology in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, Phuong Chau Can Tho International Hospital was also recognized as a "Baby-Friendly Hospital," an initiative implemented by the Ministry of Health and provincial Departments of Health with support from the international organization Alive & Thrive and the Irish Embassy. Phuong Chau's units also consistently achieve high scores in the 83-criteria hospital assessments conducted by the Departments of Health.
