The Quang Ngai Department of Health announced these test results on 19/10. Samples were collected from hospitalized individuals and from Ba Duoc bakery located on Duy Tan street, Cam Thanh Ward. All patients shared the common symptom of developing unusual conditions after consuming bread purchased from this establishment on 10/10.
The Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang cultured nine human samples, collected on 10/10, to identify intestinal pathogenic bacteria. The results showed four samples were positive for Salmonella, including two from 12-year-old patients, one from a 33-year-old patient, and one from a 65-year-old patient.
Previously, the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang released the test results for 13 food samples taken from Ba Duoc bakery. Of these, 12 samples tested positive for Salmonella, including vegetables, pork sausage, shredded pork, sauce, chili sauce, bread, and butter. One pork sausage sample was negative for the bacteria.
Salmonella can cause intestinal infections, with symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, nausea, and vomiting. The illness can be severe in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
