Here, the vessel segment immediately after the left main coronary artery stent showed severe restenosis due to atherosclerotic plaque (RAC1). Pham Hoa, 45, from Son La, came for an examination with a suspicious solid nodule in the right middle lobe of the lung (nearly 7.5 mm) on a non-contrast scan. To conduct a comprehensive and in-depth examination of the entire chest and coronary circulatory system, doctors ordered a coronary CT scan on the Spectral CT 7500 system. Notably, the scanning team applied a spectral optimization technique: using only one dose of contrast agent from the coronary angiogram to expand the scan field to cover the entire chest area.
On the quantitative iodine map, a color-rendered image revealed a lesion in the right breast showing very high contrast agent uptake. This indicated abnormal vascular proliferation of a potentially malignant tumor, a lesion completely obscured and easily missed by traditional CT scanning methods. The patient was directed for a combined ultrasound, 3D mammography, and histopathological biopsy, offering a chance for complete recovery with an optimal prognosis.
