On 22/7, doctors from the surgical department of Quang Ngai Province's Maternity and Children's Hospital reported that during the surgery, the girl's stomach was found to be enlarged, twisted around its axis, and dangerously obstructed. The surgical team detorted the stomach and stitched it to the abdominal wall to prevent recurrence. The girl is now in stable condition and recovering in the intensive care unit.
According to Dr. Pham Xuan Duy, the surgeon who operated on the girl, "The torsion was likely caused by abnormal or loose ligaments supporting the stomach, or another condition such as a diaphragmatic hernia."

Gastric volvulus, as the condition is medically known, often presents symptoms similar to common stomachaches, making diagnosis challenging. Doctors typically combine clinical examination with laboratory results for an accurate diagnosis. Dr. Duy emphasized the rarity of this condition in children and warned that without timely diagnosis and intervention, it can lead to stomach rupture, necrosis, and even death.
