On 3/4, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Minh, head of the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery at University Medical Center - Linh Dam facility, received this unique case. After examination, the doctor found the female patient's face balanced and natural. He then provided counseling, offering professional analysis, and decided not to proceed with further surgery. Despite the patient's disappointment and intention to seek other clinics, the doctor sincerely advised her to value her current appearance.

Discussing the consultation, Dr. Minh said it is common for many people to mimic the appearance of celebrities. However, for patients with already stable facial features, he always refuses surgery. Multiple surgical interventions are complex and pose risks. Surgeons must meticulously dissect through fibrous tissue layers from prior operations. This makes achieving desired results difficult and increases the risk of complications. Professionals only consider revision surgery for actual issues like a crooked or deviated nose, cartilage displacement, or when soft tissue contraction is not severe.
"Cosmetic surgery is truly meaningful when it corrects flaws and delivers clear results, not when performed impulsively based on fleeting emotions", the doctor said.
Recently, the heavy presence of media and celebrities on social media significantly influences aesthetic trends. Many people consistently visit medical facilities, seeking to change their appearance to align with new trends. Dr. Minh understands the desire to update beauty trends but cautions against extreme pursuit. Cosmetic adjustments should align with the distinct anthropometric characteristics of Vietnamese and Asian individuals. Applying vastly different standards mechanically can make the face appear stiff, unnatural, or even deformed. Crucially, once a trend fades, the surgical journey to restore one's original appearance becomes arduous.
