Bryan Walker served as the CEO of the Bryn Walker fashion brand, a business Michelle co-managed as a designer. Since its establishment in 1992, the brand has grown to wholesale its products to approximately 1,000 stores throughout the United States.
Paul Min, Michelle's brother, stated that the affluent couple had no marital issues. However, Bryan had reportedly mortgaged family properties to fund risky investments and leveraged transactions, resulting in a loss exceeding 100 million USD by mid-9. Following this financial setback, his mental health significantly declined.
Paul suggested that Bryan shot his wife upon realizing he was facing involuntary admission to a treatment facility. Bryan had previously declined multiple attempts to assist with his mental health.

Paul reported that police discovered a note at the scene, described as a suicide note, containing unlock codes for both Bryan's and Michelle's phones. The note indicated that Bryan had premeditated the events, leaving the codes to enable his family to handle their outstanding affairs.
Bryan and Michelle had been married for over 30 years. Neighbors characterized the couple as private individuals who led a quiet life and rarely socialized.
