According to the investigation findings, in 1/2021, Ms. Trinh was introduced to Vu, who claimed to be a deputy head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission. Vu boasted of his ability to secure preferential government loans for businesses and facilitate the purchase of real estate at reduced prices.
Trusting Vu's claims, Ms. Trinh repeatedly gave him money to process loan applications and property transactions. After receiving over 30 billion dong from her, Vu ceased all contact. Realizing she had been defrauded, Ms. Trinh reported the incident to the police.
During the investigation, police received additional complaints alleging Vu's involvement in property appropriation. In one instance, Vu fully repaid the amount taken. Another complainant withdrew their report after an agreement was made with Vu's wife for gradual repayment.
Investigators noted that while Vu made verbal agreements and promises to help these individuals acquire cheap land, there was insufficient evidence for criminal prosecution on these specific claims.
