Apprehended while stealing 80 taels of gold

Phan Thanh Tinh, 33, was caught by police breaking into a gold shop at Truong An market in Long Chau ward, making off with 80 taels of gold valued at approximately 8 billion VND.

In the early morning of 19/8, a patrol team from Long Chau Ward Police discovered Phan Thanh Tinh breaking into a gold shop in the Truong An market area. Police immediately subdued and apprehended the suspect, who had just taken approximately 80 taels of 18K gold, valued at an estimated 8 billion VND.

On 20/8, Long Chau Ward Police, in coordination with the Vinh Long Provincial Police Investigation Agency, took statements from Tinh. Described as transient, Tinh is being investigated for asset theft.

Authorities secured the crime scene and confiscated the gold. Tinh remains in custody for further investigation.
