On the afternoon of 23/6, the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Court sentenced Tran Nhat Tan, 47, residing in Ky Hoa commune, for murder and illegal use of military weapons, under articles 123 and 304 of the Penal Code.

In court, Tan expressed remorse, hoping for a reduced sentence to return home early and atone for his mistakes. The court, however, deemed his actions dangerous to society and stated that strict punishment was necessary as a deterrent.

According to the indictment, on the evening of 28/10/2025, after a drinking session, Tan, along with Duong Dinh Quang, 46, residing in Song Tri ward, and several friends, went to a karaoke bar in Trung Thuong village, Ky Hoa commune (formerly part of Ky Anh town).

As the session ended, a dispute arose between Tan and Quang over contributing money to pay the karaoke bill, leading to a loud argument. Authorities alleged that Tan, angered, then used a sharp knife to stab Quang in the neck, severing the left artery. The victim was in critical condition and required emergency hospitalization, sustaining 28% health impairment.

One day after the incident, Tan surrendered to the Ky Hoa Commune Police.
