On 16/2, the Da Nang City Police Criminal Investigation Department announced the three-month detention of Chinese national Zhang Junhua on charges of property theft.

According to the investigation, on the evening of 12/2, Ms. Ngoc, 33, and a Korean friend were dining at The Garden restaurant in Duy Nghia commune. During their meal, they discovered their backpack, placed next to their table, was missing.

The backpack contained approximately 75 million VND, 400 USD, and several personal items belonging to Ms. Ngoc. Her Korean friend's passport, approximately 60 million VND, 200 USD, and multiple bank cards were also inside. The total estimated value of the stolen property was nearly 200 million VND.

The Criminal Investigation Department, in collaboration with local police, launched an investigation. They identified a foreign man, later identified as Zhang Junhua, who appeared at the restaurant around the time of the incident and left immediately afterward. At 15:00 on 13/2, a task force located the suspect on Ho Nghinh street in An Hai ward and invited him for questioning.

During questioning at the investigative agency, Zhang Junhua admitted to the theft. Recovered items included 29.7 million VND, 1,136 USD, and several related documents and properties.

The investigative agency is continuing to expand the case and is working to recover the remaining money.
