On 27/3, Hung Yen Provincial Police reported they are temporarily holding Quyen, a resident of Dong Chau commune, for criminal investigation into the stabbing of 78-year-old Tran Xuan Ha, a resident of Dong Tien Hai commune.

According to initial investigation, around 12:50 p.m. on 26/3, Quyen went from his home in Dong Chau commune to his family's orchard in Dong Tien Hai commune to cut ripe bananas. Upon discovering a banana bunch had already been harvested, Quyen suspected his older brother, Ha, whose house was adjacent to the garden, and an argument ensued.

During the scuffle between the two brothers, Quyen pulled out a fruit knife he was carrying and stabbed Ha once in the left thigh, causing his death.

Immediately after the attack, Quyen left the scene but was arrested at his home 25 minutes later.
