On 21/7, the People's Procuracy of Hai Phong City approved the decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Ta Viet Dong, 61, residing in Ngo Gia Tu ward, Hai Phong City. He is charged with abusing power in performing official duties.

Dong served as director of the Hai Phong Urban Development Construction Project Management Board starting in 2016. Following organizational restructurings in 2019 and 2024, the unit was renamed the Hai Phong Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board, and he continued in the director role.

In 2/2025, Dong retired early when this unit merged with another to form the Hai Phong Civil Construction Investment and Infrastructure Project Management Board.

During his tenure, the units he led were investors in major Hai Phong projects. These included the technical infrastructure project of the Bac Song Cam New Urban Area and the renovation and upgrade project of National Highway 10, specifically the section from Da Bac Bridge to Kien Bridge.

Currently, the prosecuting agency has not disclosed Dong's specific violations.
