Former director of Ia Cham Coffee Company sentenced to 5 years in prison

Le Anh Tuan, former director of Ia Cham One Member Limited Liability Coffee Company, arbitrarily leased company land for passion fruit and sweet potato cultivation, causing damage exceeding 200 million dong.

On 6/2, Le Anh Tuan, 48, was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Gia Lai Provincial People's Court for abusing his position and power while performing official duties.

According to the verdict, from 2020, Vietnam National Coffee Corporation planned to replant over 100 hectares of old, low-yield robusta coffee. Between March 2022 and March 2024, as Chairman and Director of Ia Cham One Member Limited Liability Coffee Company, Tuan abused his position and power to arbitrarily lease nearly 15 hectares of company land to an individual for passion fruit cultivation, receiving over 134 million dong.

He also collected an additional 65 million dong for extending land leases to residents for sweet potato farming. Tuan managed and used these two sums himself, without recording them in the company's accounting system.

The Gia Lai Provincial People's Court stated that Tuan's actions affected Ia Cham Coffee Company's legal rights and interests, causing over 200 million dong in damages to the state.
