On 6/2, the Quang Tri Provincial Police's Internal Political Security Department announced it had issued a decision to fine a 76-year-old man from Vinh Thuy commune 7,5 million dong. The fine was for providing and sharing false, fabricated, distorted, and slanderous information that harmed the reputation of agencies, organizations, and the honor and dignity of individuals, as stipulated under point a, clause 1, Article 101 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP.

According to authorities, on 25/1, the man used his personal Facebook account to post an article containing distorted and false information related to police leaders in another locality.
When invited to work with the Internal Political Security Department and Vinh Thuy Commune Police, he admitted that due to limited understanding, he had reposted information from the "Viet Tan" and "Nhat Ky Yeu Nuoc" fanpages without verification.
He realized his actions violated the law, proactively removed the post, and committed not to re-offend.
