Four alleged traffickers indicted for selling teenage karaoke hostess

Two groups accused of exploiting female karaoke hostesses for pouring beer and selecting songs are facing charges for trafficking a 16-year-old girl for financial gain.

On 15/8, the Investigative Police Agency of Hung Yen Provincial Public Security indicted Pham Minh Thai, 27; Ly Cong Anh Tu, 23; Quach Tuan Anh, 30; and Dinh Ngoc Manh, 20, for human trafficking, under Article 150 of the Criminal Code.

According to the investigation, in July, through local intelligence gathering, the Criminal Police Department uncovered the illegal transfer of female staff, who pour beer and select songs, between 'exploitative recruiter' groups in communes such as Vu Thu and Dong Quan for illicit profit.

Recognizing signs of human trafficking, Hung Yen Provincial Public Security initiated a specialized investigation.

On 31/7, police raided two rented accommodations: one belonging to Thai and Tu's group in La Yen hamlet, Vu Thu commune, and another belonging to Tuan Anh and Manh's group in hamlet 10, Dong Quan commune. The individuals were then summoned for questioning.

At the investigative agency, the four individuals admitted to trafficking a 16-year-old girl from Bac Ninh.

The victim was initially an employee of Manh and Tuan Anh's group, who then sold her to Thai and Tu for money.

The investigative agency is expanding the case to clarify the involvement of other individuals.
