Preliminary forensic analysis confirmed that 14 of the seized firearms and over 2,600 rounds of ammunition were military weapons. Police questioned 20 individuals involved in the network; all admitted to purchasing and possessing weapons from Vu.
Investigations revealed Vu's illicit activities began in 8/2022. He started by buying raw materials to manufacture gun components for models including CZ455, CZ457, and Ruger, which he then sold for profit. This initial phase lasted until 4/2023. In 2024, Vu shifted his focus, acquiring sporting firearms and military ammunition for assembly and subsequent sale to clients in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces.

This recent crackdown forms part of a concentrated campaign by Ho Chi Minh City Police to suppress crime and ensure public order during the Binh Ngo Tet (Lunar New Year) 2026. Prior to the raids, the police intensified their review of online weapon sales activities. Authorities deem the group's actions particularly dangerous, posing a direct threat to public security and order.
