Karaoke hostess chained, beaten for not 'pleasing' customers

Karaoke manager Nguyen Thanh Hai, 30, and two accomplices are accused of taking a female hostess to a rented room, where they beat and chained her for refusing to let customers grope her.

On 24/11, Hai, Pham Truong Vu (20), and Y Bi Mlo (32) were detained by Dak Lak Provincial Police on charges of unlawful detention.

According to the investigation, the 25-year-old victim had sought employment as a waitress at drinking establishments and karaoke bars in Ea Drang commune, operating under Hai's management.

During her employment, Hai allegedly forced her and other female hostesses to "let customers touch their bodies." Those who failed to comply with this demand were reportedly taken to a rented room by Hai and his accomplices, where they were beaten and threatened.

On the evening of 15/10, the 25-year-old victim did not comply with this "unwritten rule" of pleasing customers. Hai and his accomplices responded by spraying pepper spray in her face, dragging her into a car, and transporting her to a rented room. There, the victim was chained by her legs and severely beaten. After being released by the group, she reported the incident to the police.

The case is currently under further investigation.
