Police in Wiesbaden reported that last week, the boy snuck into the depot of Nassau Transport Company (NVG) and drove off with a bus, initially undetected.
Security camera footage captured the incident, but company employees initially thought a driver had taken the vehicle, so they did not check immediately.
Though the incident occurred around 6 am, police only received a report that same afternoon. Initially, the company suspected a driver had taken the wrong vehicle; only after reviewing all personnel did they determine the bus had been stolen.

Using the bus's GPS tracking device, police quickly located it in Karlsruhe, a city approximately 130 kilometers from Wiesbaden. A patrol car in Karlsruhe intercepted the bus, and officers were surprised to find a teenager at the wheel. He had just picked up his 14-year-old girlfriend from school and was apparently driving back to Wiesbaden.
"We still do not know how he obtained the keys or why he drove the bus so skillfully," a police spokesperson stated, adding that the boy had taken the bus to transport his 14-year-old girlfriend to school.
Police initially theorized the teenager had started the vehicle with a stolen master key, but internal sources from NVG at the scene offered a different account.
The lovestruck thief was a former intern at the transport company, familiar with its procedures. "He knew we leave all buses running here around 3:30 am before departure. So he stole one," an NVG source revealed.
An NVG bus driver expressed admiration: "I am very impressed that he did not cause an accident. He truly wanted to apprentice as a dispatcher with us, but he probably has to forget that after this incident."
The investigation into this unusual event continues, but the 15-year-old faces multiple charges, including theft and driving without a license.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the bus was returned to its owner undamaged. However, company staff could not be angry with the boy, remarking, "This is truly a very touching story."
