Dau Thi Hang and Truong Van Duan were prosecuted for "violating others' residence" under Article 158 of the Penal Code, Nghe An Provincial Police announced on 7/5.
According to authorities, Dau Thi Hang and her husband previously owned a one-story house in Do hamlet, Tho Hop commune, which is now Quy Hop commune. In 2021, the house was sold at auction as part of an enforcement action. Nguyen Van Son, 33, was the successful bidder, acquiring the property for over 2,3 billion VND. The auction was fully documented with legal papers, and Son also received a land use rights certificate.

In 3/2022, authorities carried out a forced handover of the property to Son. However, Duan and Hang subsequently pried open the door and moved back into the house.
Son repeatedly demanded the house's return but received no positive response from Dau Thi Hang and her husband. His family of 5, including adults and children, has been forced to rent accommodation for four years, while also managing a substantial loan taken to purchase the house.
Over the past few years, despite numerous efforts by local authorities to persuade them, Hang and Duan have refused to return the house to Son. Their reason for doing so has not been disclosed.
