One of the 14 colleagues reported the incident to police on 9/9.

The group of 15 had pooled their money to buy lottery tickets, entrusting the funds to a 36-year-old colleague, identified as Yu, to purchase the tickets and manage the winnings account.

Their luck turned when they won the 30 million HKD jackpot, valued at approximately 3.8 million USD.

However, after claiming the prize, Yu refused to distribute the winnings equally among the group, sparking a dispute.

A meeting was convened on the evening of 9/9 to resolve the disagreement, but Yu reportedly remained adamant about not sharing the funds.

Fearing Yu intended to keep the entire prize and vanish, the 53-year-old colleague reported the matter to police that same night.

The situation escalated when Yu failed to report for work for five consecutive days and made no contact with any group member.

Consequently, after receiving the report, police issued an arrest warrant for Yu on 11/9 to investigate allegations of theft. He remains in custody.

Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
