On 11/9, Le Van Day, 55, residing in Thanh Hung Hamlet, Binh Minh Ward, was temporarily detained by Vinh Long Provincial Police for investigation into attempted murder under Article 123 of the Penal Code.
Initial investigations revealed that Day had a dispute with his 33-year-old nephew, who lives at the same address, concerning the sale of a house and land. This conflict led Day to develop an intention to kill his nephew.
Day allegedly prepared one electrical cord with a plug, connecting the other end to two metal pieces fixed onto a wooden stick.
On the afternoon of 7/9, Day plugged the cord into a household electrical outlet and lay in wait. Around 3 p.m., when his nephew returned home, Day reportedly rushed out and jabbed the electrified metal into the victim's abdomen.
The nephew quickly grabbed the wooden stick, causing Day to release it. Day then ran into his house, retrieved two knives, and chased his nephew. However, the victim escaped and reported the incident to the ward police.
Investigators assessed that using household electricity connected to metal objects to attack another person is an extremely dangerous act that can lead to death.
