The police had earlier received a report from a woman concerning a Facebook account named "Khun Win" that published false information. The post implied that the Quang Tri provincial tourism ambassador for 2021 had played pickleball and subsequently transmitted a serious illness to many individuals.
The complainant, originally from Lao Bao commune, is indeed the Quang Tri provincial tourism ambassador for 2021. She clarified that she currently lives and works in Da Nang, has not returned to her hometown for a long time, and has not played pickleball.
The owner of the "Khun Win" Facebook account deleted the post approximately two hours after publishing it. He also issued an apology if the information had affected the ambassador, explaining that his intention was merely to increase social media engagement.
Police identified the 30-year-old man as the owner of the Facebook account.
Authorities issued a warning, advising citizens to verify information before posting, commenting, or sharing on social media. They also cautioned against spreading false information or insulting the honor, dignity, or reputation of others. The police emphasized that all illegal acts in cyberspace can be investigated and prosecuted.
