On 23/4, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court sentenced Le Thanh Truong, 78, a resident of Thanh Vinh ward, to 13 years in prison. Truong was convicted of attempted murder and illegal use of military weapons after he attacked his wife with a knife, causing 61% injuries, following a dispute over a failed land transaction.
During the trial, Truong expressed remorse, stating he lost control due to anger and hoped for leniency to atone for his actions. His wife, who attended the hearing, also requested a reduced sentence for him. However, the court panel concluded that Truong's actions showed a deliberate intent to commit the crime.

According to the indictment, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. on 14/7/2025. Enraged by the inability to sell a family land plot, Truong repeatedly rammed his motorbike into the gate. His wife, Nguyen Thi Buong, rushed out to intervene, asking, "What did the motorbike do to deserve this destruction?"
Authorities stated that Buong's defiant attitude provoked Truong, who pushed her down. He then retrieved a knife from the kitchen and attacked her, leaving her collapsed on the floor. Neighbors, hearing her cries for help, attempted to intervene but were blocked by the locked gate.
Emergency services subsequently broke down the gate, subdued Truong, and rushed Buong to the hospital. She survived the injuries but sustained 61% health damage.
