Large-scale ring counterfeits over 10,000 luxury brand jewelry items

Over 10,000 counterfeit jewelry products from world-renowned brands were sold on the market for years, earning suspects 30 billion VND.

On 10/6, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police investigation agency indicted nine defendants to investigate charges of smuggling and infringement of industrial property rights. These charges are connected to a large-scale ring producing and selling counterfeit world-renowned brand jewelry.

According to the investigation, the Economic Police Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police discovered numerous online stores regularly advertising jewelry products styled after many world-renowned brands.

The products were marketed as "high-end craftsmanship", "original designs", and "custom-made". They were accompanied by luxurious images, consultation services, and live stream sales to build customer trust.

Investigators determined that the transaction volume for these "high-end" jewelry items increased significantly, generating substantial revenue, but with signs of unproven origin.

Expanding the investigation, the Economic Police Department, in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City Police, worked with 20 individuals. These included managers, sales staff, and craftsmen from Helia Fine Jewelry Co., Ltd. and Wii Diamonds Co., Ltd., both directed by Nguyen Van Huy.

At the investigation agency, Dao Thuy Trang, deputy director of Helia Fine Jewelry Co., Ltd., stated that the company was licensed to trade jewelry products under the Helia brand, which the company designed itself.

However, during its operations, Trang and her staff contacted Nguyen Van Phuc to produce and process numerous counterfeit products of famous brands such as: Cartier, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Bvlgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Chrome Hearts.

In addition to domestic production, this group also ordered counterfeit brand products from abroad and brought them to Vietnam for consumption.

Searching related locations, authorities seized over 300 counterfeit jewelry items, including: rings, necklaces, bracelets. They also found numerous machines and equipment used for crafting, such as: laser welding machines, polishing machines, gold rolling machines, engraving machines, and a large quantity of chemicals.
