On 4/9, the People's Court of Ca Mau province sentenced Tuan to 19 years in prison for murder.

According to the indictment, on the afternoon of 9/10/2024, Tuan returned to his home in Chau Hung A commune, Vinh Loi district, the former Bac Lieu province (now Vinh Loi commune, Ca Mau province), after drinking. He argued with his father, who scolded him for taking food from home to share with friends while drinking. The argument escalated into a physical fight.

Although his mother intervened, Tuan remained aggressive, challenging his father and damaging the ancestral altar. During the altercation in the living room, Tuan grabbed a wooden chair and hit his father on the head. The victim fell to the tiled floor, unconscious, and later died from a traumatic brain injury.

Throughout the investigation and trial, Tuan confessed and expressed remorse. The victim's legal representative also submitted a petition requesting leniency for the defendant.
