Lorenzo Miller recently had his initial hearing on 5/5, facing charges including first-degree murder conspiracy, use of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, tampering with or altering evidence, and aggravated kidnapping.
On 1/5, Memphis, Tennessee police responded to a report of a shooting, discovering a man inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim, a male in his 20s, sustained at least 6 gunshot wounds: two to his left chest, and others to his legs, arms, and back.
The alleged shooter, Lorenzo Miller, was found by officers in the hallway of the apartment complex and was immediately taken into custody for questioning.
The victim's girlfriend, a witness at the scene, informed police that Miller and her boyfriend had been arguing over the victim's failure to pay his portion of the rent.
The dispute escalated when the victim reportedly punched Miller multiple times in the face. Miller then retrieved a handgun from a nearby coffee table and shot the victim.
The weapon, a black Taurus PT111 G2 9mm handgun, was later recovered by police near an outdoor fence of the apartment.
During the investigation, officers reported that Miller confessed to shooting the victim, claiming he acted after being assaulted.
Further court dates have not yet been scheduled.
