Nguyen Van Nung, 27, from Rach Gia Ward, An Giang province, faces murder charges following an incident where he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend and killed a man who intervened during an argument. Vinh Long Provincial Police charged Nung and placed him under temporary detention on 28/2, citing Article 123 of the Criminal Code.
The violent confrontation occurred on 13/2 at Nung's rented room in Tan Thuy commune, Vinh Long province. Initial investigations reveal Nung had been in a romantic relationship with a 35-year-old woman from Cau Ong Lanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. On the day of the incident, Nung had picked up his girlfriend and her friends, bringing them to his room.
An argument erupted between Nung and his girlfriend. During the altercation, Nung reportedly pulled out a knife he had hidden and stabbed her multiple times. A 31-year-old man, who was accompanying Nung's girlfriend, attempted to intervene but was also stabbed by Nung, causing him to collapse.
Both victims were rushed to the emergency room. Tragically, the man who intervened later died. Nung's girlfriend sustained severe injuries and continues to receive medical treatment.
