Man stabs neighbor to death after drinking argument

Nguyen Van Chien, 40, allegedly used a knife to fatally stab his neighbor following a dispute during a drinking session.

Ca Mau Provincial Police detained Nguyen Van Chien, 40, on 7/3 for allegedly stabbing his neighbor, Le Thanh Phong, 47, to death following an argument during a drinking session. The incident occurred in Tan An Ninh A hamlet, Ta An Khuong commune.

According to initial police investigation, on the afternoon of 6/3, Chien, Phong, and several acquaintances gathered for a drinking session at a neighbor's house.

Around 9 p.m., Chien and Phong began arguing, leading both men to leave the gathering. Chien walked home, retrieved a household knife, and then proceeded to Phong's nearby house to confront him further.

Upon arriving at Phong's door, Chien encountered Phong, and a physical altercation ensued. During the struggle, Chien stabbed Phong once in the abdomen before returning to his own home with the knife.

Phong's relatives quickly transported him to Dam Doi General Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
