Fairbarn then wrapped the flamingo in his shirt and took it to his room on the 14th floor of the hotel. Video evidence captured Fairbarn laughing while holding the screaming bird, then grabbing its neck and dragging it roughly across the floor. He was also heard stating, "I'm going to take it home."

Police obtained a search warrant for Fairbarn's room shortly after, where they rescued the flamingo. The bird was bleeding heavily from one wing.
During questioning, Fairbarn stated he was intoxicated. He claimed he saw a distressed flamingo and attempted to "fix" its wing back into place.
The animal protection agency reported that the flamingo's wing was broken by Fairbarn, and it is now receiving care for recovery.
Fairbarn posted USD 12,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on 9/3.
