On March 6, Hanoi City Police announced that its Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department issued a fine to a woman residing in Kim Lien ward, under Article 101, Clause one of Decree 15/2020.
Police determined the information she posted on Facebook to be "distorted and false about a city People's Committee leader". During questioning, she admitted posting unverified information and committed to ceasing the activity.

Recently, Hanoi Police also fined other individuals in the area for posting false information related to election activities.
Hanoi Police advised citizens to be vigilant against misleading information concerning the upcoming election. According to authorities, much distorted and unverified content has recently appeared on social media, potentially causing public confusion.
People are advised not to share or spread information from unclear sources; instead, they should follow official channels for updates.
The election for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels will take place nationwide on 15/3. Vietnamese citizens aged 18 and above by election day, who have not been deprived of their voting rights by law, are eligible to cast their ballots.
According to the official list following consultations, voters nationwide will select 500 National Assembly delegates from 864 candidates.
