On 21/11, the People's Court of An Giang province sentenced Tran Tuan Vu, 32, to 14 years in prison for murder.

According to the indictment, Vu met Hong, 38, in late 2024. Late on 19/2, Vu discovered his girlfriend at a guesthouse with another person, and she did not answer her phone.

Suspecting infidelity, Vu armed himself with two knives, concealing them in his shirt pocket, and went to the guesthouse. Outside, an argument ensued, during which Vu stabbed Hong multiple times, continuing the attack until both knives broke.

He did not stop there, continuing to punch and beat her until bystanders intervened, prompting him to get into his car and leave. Vu later surrendered to the police.

Hong was rushed to emergency care, where her life was saved. She sustained a 63% injury rate.

In addition to the 14-year prison sentence, Vu was ordered to pay 40 million VND in compensation to the victim.
