In mid-january, while riding his motorbike searching for opportunities to steal property, Tin targeted a wedding in Khanh Hau ward. He left his motorbike at a nearby pawn shop, then picked up a rock, put it in a plastic bag, concealed it on his person, and entered the wedding party.

Taking advantage of the hosts being busy greeting guests, Tin slipped into a room where the wedding gift box was kept. He used the rock to smash the glass and took all the envelopes.

After obtaining 93 million dong, Tin discarded the 60 opened envelopes into a plastic bag and threw it into a grassy area. He then went to a money transfer point on National Highway 62 and transferred 15 million dong to his girlfriend.

He left his motorbike and took a motorbike taxi to his 37-year-old girlfriend's rented room. That evening, Tin took his girlfriend to buy gold bracelets and earrings totaling over 16 million dong, and purchased two mobile phones for more than 23 million dong.
