On 18/6, the Da Nang City Police Criminal Police Department announced it has initiated criminal proceedings and temporarily detained Wang Tiejun, residing on Nguyen Xien Street in Ngu Hanh Son ward, to investigate him for robbery.

According to the investigation, on the afternoon of 14/6, as Ms. Fan Huifen, a Chinese national, returned to her hotel on Vo Nguyen Giap Street in Ngu Hanh Son ward, a man used a plastic bag to cover her head from behind, stealing her bag which contained an iPhone 15, two chip cards valued at 200 USD, and some cash.

The Criminal Police Department, in coordination with the Ngu Hanh Son Ward Police, identified and reviewed over 100 suspicious individuals and dozens of foreign nationals residing in the area. After over 24 hours of investigation, authorities identified Wang Tiejun as the suspect.

Wang confessed that he conceived the idea of robbery due to a lack of money for expenses. Knowing that Ms. Fan was a manager at a casino and often carried valuables, Wang monitored her daily routine.

On the afternoon of 14/6, Wang went to the hotel where Ms. Fan was staying to ambush her, and used spray paint to obscure surveillance cameras in the lobby area. Seeing the victim waiting for the elevator, Wang approached from behind.

After stealing the phone, cash, and chip cards, Wang discarded the victim's handbag and identification documents to erase traces.

Police seized evidence including a Vespa motorcycle, an iPhone, and over 5.1 million VND in cash.

The case is currently under further investigation.
