Motorbike clue leads police to phone snatching suspects in Ho Chi Minh City

Le Viet Hung and Nguyen Trung Duc, who rode a motorbike to snatch phones in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, were arrested after more than 5 hours on the run.

On 4/10, Le Viet Hung and Nguyen Trung Duc, both 17 years old, were arrested by the Ho Chi Minh City Police's Criminal Police Department (PC02) on charges of property snatching.

Earlier today, a victim reported to the Ben Thanh Ward Police that their iPhone had been snatched on De Tham street.

Using information about the vehicle involved in the crime, the Criminal Police Department (PC02), in coordination with Ben Thanh Ward Police, identified Hung and Duc as suspects. More than 5 hours later, officers located the two individuals and their motorbike in Di An Ward, approximately 20 km from the crime scene.

During interrogation, both confessed to the offense. Hung admitted to driving the motorbike, while Duc, riding pillion, directly snatched the phone. Police subsequently tracked down, recovered, and returned the iPhone to the victim.

The police are currently clarifying the roles of Hung, Duc, and any other individuals involved.
