An Giang Provincial Police have indicted and temporarily detained Vo Van Phut, 30, on murder charges. The legal action was initiated on 22/11.

Phut has three prior convictions for property theft. After serving his sentences, he remained unemployed and lived with his aunt's family in Thoai Son commune, An Giang province.

According to the investigation, the fatal altercation occurred on 12/11. Phut, intoxicated, was reprimanded by his aunt, Nguyen Thi Ro, 69. During their argument, Phut approached Ms. Ro, who was lying in a hammock, and repeatedly kicked her head and face.

Family members intervened, stopping the assault. Phut then surrendered to Thoai Son commune police. Ms. Ro was rushed to the emergency room but died before reaching the hospital.
