Reckless minor group stands trial

Nguyen Ba Khang, 17 years old, son of notorious figure Duong "Nhue", and his teen accomplices used slingshots and pepper spray to chase and injure others.

Nguyen Ba Khang and five co-defendants recently faced trial at the Regional People's Court in Hung Yen province for intentional injury, the Hung Yen Provincial Police announced on 7/4.

According to the indictment, Khang led a group that used pepper spray, slingshots firing steel pellets, glass bottles, and bricks to chase and injure two 19-year-old youths.

During the trial, the defendants initially justified their actions as "the recklessness of youth" before pleading guilty.

Acknowledging their minor age but noting the aggressive and violent behavior, the Trial Panel sentenced Khang to 15 months in prison. Two other defendants each received 10 months in prison, while the remaining three were sent to a reform school.

Authorities stated that the law has no exceptions, and minor age is not a shield for aggressive acts.

Khang is the son of Duong "Nhue", a notorious figure in Thai Binh province, currently serving a 22-year prison sentence.
