Teenagers break store lock, steal multiple iPhones

Three 15-year-old teenagers, after playing games, conspired to buy crowbars, break into a phone store, and steal two iPhone 16 Pro Max phones along with several other models to divide among themselves.

Da Nang City Police announced on 6/4/2026 the temporary detention of three 15-year-old teenagers—Ngo Thanh Thuong, Truong Tan Hoang Hiep, and Vo Le Nhat Duy—on charges of property theft. The group allegedly broke into a phone store, stealing two iPhone 16 Pro Max phones and several other models, which they later divided among themselves.

Initial investigations revealed that on the evening of 2/4, after a gaming session at an Internet cafe, Duy proposed the theft to Thuong and Hiep, aiming to acquire spending money. To execute their plan, the three rode an unregistered motorbike to a hardware store, where they purchased a crowbar approximately one meter in length.

At approximately midnight on 3/4, the teenagers targeted a phone store in Xuan Phu commune. Duy acted as a lookout while Thuong and Hiep used the crowbar to force open the main door. Once inside, they shattered display cabinets and stole 5 phones, including two iPhone 16 Pro Max models, one iPhone 15 Pro, one iPhone 13 Pro, and one iPhone 12 Pro.

Following the theft, the group proceeded to the Vuon Co area in Dien Ban Dong ward to distribute the stolen items. Duy took three phones, while Hiep and Thuong each kept one iPhone 16 Pro Max. Responding to the report, the Criminal Police Department, in collaboration with Xuan Phu Commune Police, swiftly investigated the scene and identified suspects. Within a short time, authorities apprehended the group and recovered most of the stolen property.

Authorities recovered two iPhone 16 Pro Max phones, 5 million Vietnamese dong in cash from the sale of other stolen devices, and the motorbike used during the crime. The police are currently consolidating the case file.
