An Giang Provincial Police arrested Nguyen Phuoc Tu, Nguyen Van Tu, Nguyen Hong Duc, Nguyen Van Tung Em, Truong Anh Tuan, and Nguyen Ngoc Linh, aged 37 to 53, on 19/11/2025 for fraudulent appropriation of property.
This action follows the earlier arrest of Pham Huu Tinh, 41, a former bank officer at Nam A Bank's Chau Phu branch, who is considered the mastermind behind the scheme and faces the same charges.

According to the investigation, the elaborate fraud began mid-last year when Pham Huu Tinh hired Tu and the other five individuals. Their role was to impersonate people needing money to pay off maturing loans, thereby approaching potential lenders and building trust.
The group promised immediate repayment of both principal and interest once the bank disbursed the funds. Due to Tinh's introductions, many lenders trusted these individuals and provided them with 6,9 billion VND.
Upon receiving the money from the lenders, Tu's group promptly transferred the entire sum to Tinh.

Burdened by his own debts, Tinh subsequently embezzled the entire amount, failing to repay the lenders as promised.
