On 24/8, Dak Lak Provincial Police detained Y Ngun for four months on charges of rape and property robbery.

According to the investigation, in the early hours of 15/8, after a drinking session, Y Ngun was riding his motorbike home when he spotted a 63-year-old woman cycling to Tan Hoa wholesale market in Tan Lap ward to buy produce for sale. The young man conceived a sinister plot and followed her.

Upon reaching a secluded road, Y Ngun approached, restrained, and gagged the victim, threatening her life. He then searched the woman's shirt pocket, taking 1,1 million VND, committed the depraved act, and fled.

Dak Lak Provincial Police launched an investigation, tracked him down, and arrested Y Ngun on the afternoon of 21/8.
