Lang Son Provincial Police announced today that Loc Thi Hong, 56, former head of the Tax Declaration and Accounting Department at the provincial Tax Department, now head of the Enterprise Management and Support Department, was arrested for receiving bribes.

In the same case, Do Kim Nhung, 47, an accountant at Golden Sun Import-Export One Member Limited Liability Company, was arrested for brokering bribery. Hua Thuy Hang, Director of Golden Sun Company, was detained for investigation into alleged fraudulent appropriation of property related to the tax refund embezzlement.

An initial investigation determined that in November 2020, Nhung introduced her superior, Hang, to Hong at Hong's residence in Ky Lua ward. There, Hang requested Hong's assistance in facilitating Golden Sun Company's embezzlement of value-added tax refunds totaling nearly 200 billion VND.

Subsequently, from November 2020 to May 2021, Hang paid Hong bribes five times, amounting to 550 million VND.

Police uncovered this case following directives from Colonel Vu Thanh Tung, Director of Lang Son Provincial Police, to focus on combating and strictly handling organizations and individuals violating state management regulations.

During searches of Hong's and Nhung's residences and workplaces, police seized all relevant documents and records related to Golden Sun Company's tax refunds and recovered all bribe money.

Police are expanding the investigation and thoroughly recovering all bribe money involved in the bribery.
